With a healthy background in VFX, Animation and Design from an 8 year baptism from the Oscar winning studio Animal Logic, Oates combines rich visual storytelling, VFX and animation to create a unique perspective to his work. The latest short film, Death In Bloom, is a finalist in the prestigious Dendy Awards at Sydney Film Festival and in competition at a number of festivals around the world including the Palm Springs International Shorts Fest. As well as being a filmmaker, Oates is constantly exploring the world around him with his photographic artwork, channeling an abstract view of the urban and natural spaces that surround us. Oates resides with his family in Brooklyn NY.
