Residing with his family in Brooklyn NY, Oates travels the globe directing commercials for big brands and award winning agencies, mixing beautiful cinematography with seamless visual effects. A passionate storyteller, Oates also writes and directs his own films, telling twisted tales in his unique visual language.  With a healthy background in VFX, Animation and Design from an 8 year baptism at the Oscar winning studio Animal Logic, Oates combines performance, visual narrative and VFX to create a unique perspective to his work. As well as being a filmmaker, Oates is constantly exploring the world around him with his mixed media artwork. Training as a photographer at the prestigious Queensland College of Art in the late 1990's, Oates continues to channel his abstract view of the mundane urban and natural spaces that surround us.
